Well I have said it many times, "That is the last restoration I will do", and when I finished the Series One Land Rover that really was going to be it.

 

And what happens - a vehical turns up that I believed was impossible to get. A genuine ex WD military 1955 Austin Princess, even still sporting the switches on the dash board to light up the C in C plate on the front and rear of the vehical. Well this is the iceing on the cake as far as my collection of C-Platoon Staff Cars of the 50s.  

 

This model was used by the GOC Southern Command. I was fortunate some years ago to contact Allan Briggs who was the GOC drivor.  We spent many hours chatting whilst waiting for our bosses at their offices at Wilton Headquarters of Southern Command.

 What could I do it looked a easy restoration, but I have fallen in to that trap many times. I guess I am a glutton for punishement, And I will still be restoring motors when I am up in that big MT shed in the sky.
